Packaging

3 gallon kit, 15 gallon kit, 150 gallon kit

Surface Preparation

Concrete structures must be cured a minimum of 28 days prior to application. Surfaces to be coated must be free of grease, standing water and any other contaminants that may impede adhesion. Always check the surface for any bond inhibitors prior to application. Any repairs must be addressed prior to application and should be repaired in accordance with ICRI standards. Concrete must have a surface profile of CSP #3. If concrete does not meet a profile of CSP #3 it must be profiled mechanically to meet CSP #3. Repair all cracks and joints prior to coating application. Bare metal substrates must be prepared to a SSPC SP 1 standard.

Note: Maintaining a consistent storage temperature prior to application will maximize working time. Material should be kept in a cool dry place prior to application.

Mixing Directions

Mixing Part A with Part B: Mix 2 parts E100 to 1 part EZ150. Mix for 3 minutes. No induction time is required prior to use. If micro-media agents are to be incorporated, they are to be added after thoroughly mixing A and B.

Application

Suggested application thickness is 8 mils or 200 ft per coat, per gallon. Refer to Quadex® tech docs directly for specifics on effective application techniques. Maximum application mil thickness in a single application is 10-12 mils. Material will be dry to the touch 4 hours after application, dependent on ambient temperature, slab temperature and humidity. Product may be re-coated within 4-24 hours following application. Light foot traffic is acceptable 12 hours following application and vehicular traffic is acceptable 48 hours after application.

Clean Up

Use MEK or Acetone

Safety

I&I Guard®-MSF

Quadex I&I Guard®-MSF (Soil Stabilization Foam) is a low-viscosity, polyurethane injection resin, designed to stabilize soil. When mixed with catalyst and injected, it migrates through loose soil and into below-grade voids. As it comes into contact with moisture in the soil, I&I Guard-MSF reacts and expands to form a rigid foam. The foam encapsulates loose soil, fills voids, and forms a solid, watertight barrier.

Packaging

5 Gallon Pails (18.9 Liter Pail).

Storage & Procedure

Keep temperature of chemicals at 70°F for several days before use. Cold chemicals can cause poor mixing, pump cavitation or other process problems due to higher viscosity at lower temperatures. Absolutely no thinners should be added to this 100% solids system. Viscosity can be reduced by an increase in temperature. The ‘A’ component is sensitive to exposure to moisture. Keep drums tightly closed when not in use and under nitrogen pressure of 2 – 3 psi after they have been opened. Prolonged exposure to temperatures below 50°F can cause the ‘A’ component to freeze. Do not store in direct sunlight.

Safety

Use caution in removing bungs from the container. Loosen the small bung first and let any built up gas escape before completely removing. Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors. In case of chemical contact with eyes, flush with water for at least 15 minutes and get medical attention For further information refer to publication AX-205 “Guidance for Working with MDI and PMDI – Things You Should Know” published by The Center For The Polyurethanes Industry, 700 2nd Street, NE, Washington, DC 20002 (www.americanchemistry.com).

Safety Data Sheets

Description

Quadex® Quad-Clean™ removes cured resin from metal components such as tools and equipment. For best results, use an industrial grade ultrasonic cleaner with built in heater.

Packaging

5 Gallon Pails (18.9 Liter Pail).

Storage

Store in dry environment between 40°-80°F (10°-26°C). No shelf life.

Procedure

Soak metal or Teflon components in Quad-Clean using a metal, glass or ceramic container until cured material softens. All wetted parts and lid must be metal (no plastic). Heat to 100-150°F. Only do this in a well ventilated area as heating the material increases solvent vapors. Remove hot parts with metal tongs. Periodically remove components from the solution and scrape off cured resin. Repeat as necessary. Once components are sufficiently clean, remove them, rinse with water or a mild solvent, and wipe down with a dry cloth. If there is no ultrasonic cleaner available, heat the Quad-Clean and components in a crock pot to 100-150°F. Follow directions and cautions above.

Safety

Avoid contact with eyes and skin, always use personal protective equipment in compliance with local regulations. Read the relevant Safety Data Sheet before use.

Disposal

Quad-Clean can be altered and reused. You can get liters at a paint store or use panty hose.

Technical Data Sheets

Description

Structure Guard®-QS is a quick spray, 100% solids, high-build epoxy coating formulated to provide long-term corrosion protection and structural enhancement for manholes, pump stations, treatment plants or any wastewater infrastructure subject to high levels of corrosion and/or abrasion. Structure Guard-QS sets fast for a quick return-to-service in the most aggressive and turbulent environments. It finishes smooth to enhance flow and is utilized as an interior or exterior pipe lining.

Coating Requirements

With Structure Guard®-QS, only 1 coat is needed to attain finished thickness. If additional coats are called for they must be applied before the previous coat has completely cross-linked, typically for 12 hours @ 72°F (higher temperatures/humidity will shorten this window). If re-coating is needed, brush blast before applying the next coat. Before re-coating, clean and dry surface thoroughly to remove all contamination, including amine blush or condensation. Small areas may be abraded by sanding or wire brushing.

The same requirements apply when overlapping seams of adjacent coating sections to create a continuous protective film. If the coating surface to be overlapped at the seam cannot be brush blasted, use a non-impact means, such as power brushing or sanding, to create adequate mechanical profile.

Yield

Structure Guard-QS will yield theoretical coverage of 20 sq. ft per gallon @ 80 mils thickness. Actual surface coverage will depend on substrate porosity and roughness. A wet film thickness gauge may be used to determine actual coating thickness.

Surface Preparation

Coating performance is largely determined by the degree of surface preparation. MORE IS BETTER. EXISTING CONCRETE AND MASONRY substrates must be prepared in a manner that provides a uniform, sound, clean, neutralized surface with sufficient profile suitable for the specified coating. The substrate must be free of all contaminants, such as oil, grease, rust, scale or deposits and have a surface profile equivalent to a CSP3 to CSP5 in accordance with ICRI Technical Guideline No. 03732. This can generally be achieved by abrasive blasting, shot blasting, high pressure water cleaning, water jetting, acid etch, hot water/steam cleaning or a combination of methods.

NEW CONCRETE AND MASONRY SUBSTRATES must be profiled, to achieve a CSP4.

STEEL surfaces may require “Solvent Cleaning” (SSPC-SP 1) to remove oil, grease and other soluble contaminants. Chemical contaminants may be removed according to SSPCSP 12/NACE No. 5. Identification of the contaminants, along with their concentrations, may be obtained from laboratory and field tests as described in SSPC-TU 4 “Field Methods for Retrieval and Analysis of Soluble Salts on Substrates”. Surfaces to be coated should then be prepared according to SSPC-SP 5/NACE No.1 “White Blast Cleaning” for immersion service or SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2. “Near White Blast Cleaning” for all other service. In certain situations, an alternate procedure may be to used such as high (>5,000 psi) or ultrahigh (>10,000 psi) pressure water cleaning or water cleaning with sand injection. The resulting anchor profile shall be 2.5-5.0 mils and be relative to the coating thickness specified.
